Coy Gibbs, co-owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, dies at age 49

The owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, Coy Gibbs, has passed away. He was the son of team founder and patriarch Joe Gibbs, and father to NASCAR driver Ty Gibbs.

the cause of his death has not been announced.

NASCAR reports that Coy Gibbs followed in his father's footsteps, joining the team after a college football career at Stanford.

Coy and J.D. Gibbs both worked for Joe Gibbs Racing 

Coy Gibbs also raced for the team, according to NASCAR. 

His brother J.D. Gibbs also died at the age of 49 in 2019.

J.D. Gibbs died of a degenerative neurological disease after a long fight.

The NASCAR world was stunned by the death of Coy Gibbs and held a moment of silence before the final race of the season.

Ty Gibbs was replaced by Daniel Hemric due to a family emergency.
